Many women enter motherhood without having their own mothers present in their lives.  Whether they've lost their mothers to death or to distance, emotional or physical, motherlessness is especially poignantly felt in the #postpartum period when women need tenderness and nurturing nearly as much as their newborn babies do.  Creating a baby, giving birth and sustaining a new, dependent life requires a kind of prolonged openness and outflow of energy that can drain even the most
