Our team of therapists have extensive training and expertise in perinatal mental health, infertility and mood and anxiety disorders. Family Tree Wellness is an Internal Family Systems informed practice, which means that all clinicians are skilled in the application of "parts work," with an underlying assumption of every client's essential wholeness.
What We Offer
We have intentionally created an environment in which our clinicians receive ongoing connection, education and support through regular in-house trainings, consultations and supervision gatherings. We only hire therapists who lead with compassion, curiosity, creativity and openness.
Have you been thinking about trying therapy? Now is such a good time. Our world needs healing, and you are the best place to start. Whatever is unsettled in you, take an interest in it. No one else can fix it for you -- but there is so much wisdom and guidance to hold you and support you while you take an interest in yourself. That’s really what therapy is: some open space for you to examine and unburden yourself, with guidance and support.
Couples in distress often enter therapy holding two goals that seem mutually exclusive: to feel known and to feel loved. Through our powerful, non-pathologizing approach, we help couples better understand themselves, their differences, and the underlying reasons for their suffering so that they can have better conversations and more choices moving forward.
Internal Family Systems
IFS is a powerfully transformative, evidence-based model of psychotherapy founded on the assumption that the mind is naturally multiple and that all parts of us have positive intentions.
EMDR is an eight-phase treatment that enables the mind to heal from psychological trauma, much as the body recovers from physical trauma.
Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional or body pain, trauma and dissociation.
The moment we even begin to imagine ourselves as mothers, we begin a wild, transformative, life-changing ride. Whether we find ourselves trying to conceive, grieving the loss of a little one, gestating, birthing or parenting - motherhood can lift our hearts like nothing else - and it can also plunge us into unexpected grief, fear, inner critics and shame. This developmental phase of life is called matrescence, and it's full of vulnerability, growth and pain. At Family Tree Wellness, we are Mothercentric, which means we start with offering care, curiosity, hope, support and validation to women on motherhood journeys. We bring curiosity and compassion into these very difficult aspects of the human experience, so that they can be metabolized and healed -- and so that women can ultimately develop trust in themselves.
When women are able to navigate the motherhood journey feeling supported and safe, they are able to develop self-trust. Sometimes moms feel unsafe because of things that are happening in their lives now: we live in a country where black mothers are suffering and dying unnecessarily and at devastatingly high rates. We live in a country where 20% of new mothers are diagnosed with a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder. We live in a country that denies women bodily autonomy and doesn't meet essential needs around reproductive choices. Along with these current threats and stressors, most of us also carry burdens emanating from the past. Every woman has her own living, breathing story, and deserves to be understood and cared for, whether she's experienced a complicated pregnancy or birth, challenges conceiving, an unwanted pregnancy, a disappointing realization about parenting, or a history of trauma.
Family Tree Wellness offers counseling and community to women and their families centered around the reproductive journey, as well as education and consultation for therapists and providers seeking competency and confidence in this domain. Through our holistic and compassionate lens, we offer informed, practical support toward healing humanity’s intergenerational burdens.
"Every woman who heals herself helps heal all the women who came before her, and all those who come after her."
